Mousetrap

I found these mousetraps and they looked very promising for decoupage. The mouse logo is quite universal so I did not cover it. Moreover, I think red goes well with blue. I used stationary ink and not sumi ink. In this way it is way more easier to complete this piece.

On the other side I made decoupage (as always, with typewriter text, and I haven’t patch it). Then I stained it with same ink again. This ink is transparent.

Mouse (Animal) qualities:

  • Symbol of support of animal rights in science

  • Traits for observation, weakness, annoing

  • Sign of effort

A notion about death and seeking help in others. Do not be careless with what you feel rich. A tool of a mouse will connect your specific personality to anything in the world.

This is a stand-alone item. You do not need to combine it with anything else. Basically, any other decoration will make the meaning very off.

If you attach ribbon (in this case it would white color), you can decorate it with bow or be able to hang a mousetrap on a nail or else. This is a motionless object, it does not require to be lacquered. Probably a mousetrap will work as a card holder or smth. In any case it’s a cute addition to a clean desk. Use dice cubes instead of cheese. But use the mechanism with caution. If you are sure to hang it, take a look at making the blank side as a blackboard. Blackboard stickers will do, because in this way you preserve decoupage as well. Play with paper that is made specific for decoupage in order to achieve style. If the mousetrap just lays on a surface, place bottles. They are small enough and they require some sort of small table as well.

P.S. Before starting make sure the mousetrap is definitely not good with the color of the wood it is made of. So that you do not ruin some fine wood. Decide if you want just one mousetrap or few. Plant out the color scheme. I am sure you do have skills, but do not use anything else other than decoupage. Also it is not necessary to wrap around the whole plate, but if you promise to use acrylic paint to fill blanks. Also one can paint the metal as well in interesting colors. Remember not to tear paper, try to glue it as a wallpaper (wich is also a thing to use).

If you are able to do quests for items, do search for the perfect or the cheapest mousetrap. Or the one that has vintage history. You can also search for old wallpaper or ask for a small piece of nicely patterned one. Interior designers know that one can have samples of materials. In case you do have a cage type of mousetrap, you can style it as a little house. Some people do keep rodents as pets, but do not give this decorative item to them as the metal is dangerous (to cats as well).

Sumi ink works as a blackboard.
